Individual counseling

People often seek out individual therapy when their usual ways of coping or responding to situations are no longer working.

We can all get into a life situation where we want to change something, we try in countless ways, but once none of it succeeds, we feel ourselves at a dead end. If we get into such a seemingly unsolvable situation, professional psychological support can help a lot. I believe that the ability to change, as well as the solution itself, lies there in everyone and as a psychologist, I can help bring this to the surface. My goal is to guide my clients along the path of personal development, to understand their thoughts, feelings, problems and to work together to discover their opportunities and their resources.

I provide a safe space where you can share what you want to change, what is not working and what barriers you feel you are experiencing in your life. We will begin with an in-depth exploration of where the work is most needed and aim toward stabilizing immediate issues, and the work continues by finding the path towards change.

Couples counseling

Strong relationships don’t just happen. They come with hard work, and sometimes even compromises in order to have a healthy connection and an equal partnership. All couples can face challenging times, and it is a sign of strength to know when to seek help by a couples therapy.

I recommend it to couples, who experience some kind of deadlock in their relationship, feeling that all their previous attempts failed to overcome certain difficulties, are facing recurring conflicts or when fruitless quarrels are common. To couples who may feel emotionally or physically distant from each other, or simply feeling stuck, frustrated, unseen or angry with the person they want to love the most.

In this process, the focus shifts from the individual to the interpersonal factors, so we focus on how the partners are functioning together as a couple. As a result of the therapy, the intensity of the problems decreases, or even disappears, and the members of the couple can feel secure again and develop a more enriching and nourishing connection.

Sessions take 90 mins, and the recommended frequency is every two weeks.

Family Counseling

Family therapy involves members living in one household and is recommended in cases where a family member or members are facing some kind of difficulty, because it affects all of their lives. Family therapy is a systemic approach that focuses on the functioning of the family rather than the individual, by observing interpersonal relationships. The family is a living system that changes cyclically, so the relationship between all members has to be rearranged from time to time. However, if any affected person is unable to adapt to the changed circumstances, dysfunction may occur, so it is worth resorting to family therapy, which can result in a new state of balance. Family therapy can help raise awareness for dysfunctional patterns, past wounds, societal expectations and release all the negative patterns of behavior and communication that may provide the backgrounds of the problem.

Sessions are 90 minutes long and the recommended frequency is every two weeks.

When is it recommended?

  • Recurring conflicts, frequent quarrels

  • Stressful life situation (e.g.: divorce, loss of job, illness)

  • Behavioral, learning, health disorders of children

  • Difficulty with getting used to kindergarten / school

  • Conflicts with an adolescent child

  • Mosaic or single-parent family

  • Adoption
